Team night is awesome! Well, “Team Night” is a term my church came up with for servers’ night gathering in my university care group coming together, doing worship and fellowship with one another. I am not part of the serving team now though. I was serving for 3 months but I left because I felt my heart was not ready for it. But they still welcome anyone who wants to bask in the presence of the Lord.
It was so good actually because today’s message shared to me was in line with the topic I want to share today. But before I come to my sharing, I want to share what I learnt for tonight’s fellowship. It is so good that I feel it will bless anyone who reads this.
Acts 16:25-26 “But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.”
Can you imagine, how tired they are having their life in prison? I am sure they worked to death all day and all they wanted to do was just to get that enough rest to last for the next day. This is just like anyone of this world, me and you when we are having tough times in our life. It is just like being in the prison when life is the same everyday and when things got bad, then it got better and you finally had that rest, then bad news come knocking at the door again.
Yes, we can’t control the situation that happens in life at times, but we can choose the way to handle those bad situations. What I like from the verse is Paul and Silas chose to pray and sing to the Lord despite the situation they were in. Look, not only their chains that were loosed, even the prisoners who just simply listen to them, had their chains loosed too and they were free to go. Do you know that prayers are very powerful and so is worship. In the bible it says:
Matthew 21:22 “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive”
Mark 11:24 “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them”
John 14:13 “And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son”
Everytime when we pray, we pray “in Jesus’ name” before we say amen, I tell you these prayers are really powerful. God, our Heavenly Daddy will give us whatever we ask for through Christ righteousness that when He sees us, He only sees us righteous and worthy of His gifts and miracles. As for worship, this is what the bible tells me about worship:
Psalm 100:2 “Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing”
Psalm 149:3-4 “Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp. For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation”
I don’t know about you, but when I worship the Lord, it can bring me to tears and to joy in my heart. I always believe through music, it speaks alot to the heart of the people who listens. And best of all, you don’t need to be in church or care group meetings or with friends to worship the Lord. You can do it even when at the lowest point of your life, or when you are feeling lonely at the darkest hour or when your heart just feels so heavy, painful and sad. Even when no one sees you singing and dancing in that closed room of yours, the Lord sees it from above. He looks at you with a smile, take delight in you and without realising, even if the situation has not yet changed, but that moment, your heart will feel so light and tears might roll down from your face (tears of pain and sadness or even tears of joy).
It’s just that simple when you don’t know what to do when you are hit with a sudden small or big storm in your life. Honestly, I was just sharing a snipet of my life in my previous post. I was actually really messed up. I did not grow up happily and was always deciding on what to do on my life based on my own feelings, own works, own effort and I got my consequences. But look, despite all that, God still do not leave me alone. He had always been knocking at the door of my heart and sometimes when I feel so not at rest and my heart was unsettling, it is actually God who is trying to tell me His answer to my decision. I usually just ignore that and still go ahead with my decision because sometimes His answer is not something I want to hear. I want to tell you, know that God loves you so so so much and He will never harm His beloved children. It’s just that we don’t see what He sees. For His vision from above are so much wider than our narrowed vision. Beloved, I want to tell you, now is the time to be like Paul and Silas, regardless in what situation they are in, they still pray and worship the Lord believing that God is faithful.
To add on more good news, I actually want to tell you, in Genesis 1, it tells us that God creates heaven and earth (the world we are living on) and in
Genesis 2:7, it says “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being”
This is what I caught on from this simple truth. Our God, who is also our creator, there is nothing in this world that He can’t fulfil for us. When you are in those helpless situations that keep coming and turn your life upside down, know that God can turn every bad situation for the good. He is the creator of this world and nothing is impossible to Him. There is a reason God blessed the seventh day and that is our seventh day of every week.
Genesis 2:2-3 “And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.”
It is for us to come to God’s House (Church) and just bask in His presence. When you bask in the presence of the Lord, your heart feels so restful, which leads to a restful mind and when your mind is restful, so is your body. When you are in this stance, you just can’t help but to leave everything into God’s hands to handle your life in that restful state of yours. Beloved, I want to encourage, do not let just the seventh day be your restful day. Every day of your life, you can be restful too. There is no better decision than the decision God makes for you. His ways are perfect with no flaws. Favors and blessings will just flow in your life with His perfect decision. Narrow our ways to just His way, holding His hands, trusting Him in His unconditional love for you. He always have our best interest at heart. I hope you have been blessed and have a good day ahead of you. God bless you, always.
